Local Lodge Website Wins National Awards

Each year, the IAM Grand Lodge Communications department holds a contest to judge the 300+ websites of IAM Local and District Lodges across the country.  They also take a look at electronic and printed Newsletters (our Lodge does not do one) and social media sites of the Local and District Lodges.

Local Lodge 463 has stood out among pack. For the second year in a row, Local Lodge 463’s website www.myworkunion.com has won FIRST PLACE for BEST LAYOUT AND DESIGN of a Local Lodge website in the IAM.  The website also won THIRD PLACE for GENERAL EXCELLENCE.

Additionally, Local Lodge 463 won FIRST PLACE for BEST SOCIAL MEDIA sites (the Local Lodge does Facebook and Instagram, but not Twitter).

At the April Local Lodge Meeting, President Chris Carr presented our Lodge Communicator, Brother Layne Johnston, with the three award plaques that were sent from the IAM Grand Lodge, along with reading a congratulatory letter from IAM International President, Robert “Bob” Martinez.  For a Local Lodge to win, not just one, but two first place categories is a really remarkable accomplishment and puts our Local Lodge in the spotlight among the entire IAM union.

Johnston stated, “I appreciate this recognition for the National and from our Local. I strive to provide a website that our Members want to visit, where they can easily find the news and information they’re looking for.  I also try to work in functionality that makes tasks such as updating contact information, RSVPing for an event, or requesting a steward as easy for our Members as it can be.  I do put a lot of time and work into our Lodge’s website, and I’m glad that it doesn’t go unnoticed. Thank you to the Grand Lodge, but specifically to our Local Lodge officers who consistently make me feel appreciated.”
